ISLAMABAD: Report by Muhammad Saleem
Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar visited the National Press Club (NPC) Islamabad and inaugurated its newly developed website. Speaking on the occasion, he announced that a modern digital lab would be established at the press club within the next two months. NPC Secretary Dr. Furqan Rao briefed the minister in detail about the website, while NPC President Abdul Razzaq Sial and other office-bearers announced conferring honorary membership of the press club upon the minister.

In his address, Tarar said the launch of the website would bring significant improvement in transparency, record management and administrative affairs, helping make the National Press Club a model press club for Pakistan. He said digitalization of institutions has become inevitable in the current era, making it essential for journalists to be familiar with modern technology, artificial intelligence and new journalistic skills. He assured that the government was seriously working on protecting the jobs of media house employees, ensuring timely payment of dues, restoring the housing quota, and reinstating health cards for journalists.

The minister urged media organizations to formulate a comprehensive policy to protect journalists and their families in case layoffs become necessary, and proposed that all stakeholders — including media owners — jointly devise a strategy for job security. During the ceremony, certificates were also distributed to participants who completed a month-long digital training program organized by the National Press Club. At the end of the event, the minister was presented with a certificate of honorary membership by the National Press Club.
