Tehran — A senior official of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has claimed that more than 85 percent of the country’s production capacity for air-defence systems remained intact despite recent hostilities with the United States and Israel. The official, speaking in a documentary aired by state-affiliated Fars news agency, said missile and air-defence manufacturing and supply rates were not reduced and in some sectors production even increased.
According to the IRGC statement, attempts were made to target military production facilities during the conflict, but overall output capacity was largely preserved, and Iran’s stockpile of operational air-defence systems is reportedly in a better position than at the start of the fighting. The official added that a substantial portion of air-defence capability is produced within IRGC-run facilities, which helped maintain production during the attacks.
The claim comes amid widespread reports of strikes on Iranian military installations and defence-production sites during the recent conflict. While Tehran insists there was no significant disruption to production, independent verification of these assertions is currently lacking.
Analysts say Tehran’s message may serve both domestic morale and strategic signalling. Western governments and some analysts have called for independent evidence to substantiate the IRGC’s claims. Should corroborating information emerge, it could influence assessments of regional military balance and shape international responses.
