TEHRAN — Major General Mohsen Rezaei, Secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council, has warned that continued US pressure on Tehran could trigger a far more serious confrontation. In an interview with Al-Manar, cited by Iran’s state news agency IRIB, Rezaei said Iran would respond forcefully if the blockade persists, and that any renewed war with Israel would be different from past conflicts.
Rezaei directly threatened Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, saying, “We will send the Zionist regime’s Prime Minister Netanyahu to hell.” He also claimed Netanyahu spread false reports about an alleged Iranian plot to assassinate a son of US President Donald Trump, saying the reports alarmed Trump and influenced his decision-making.
On Lebanon, Rezaei said Dahieh and Beirut are Iran’s “red lines” and that Israel would be forced to withdraw from Lebanese territory it occupies. He warned that if US economic pressure and the blockade continue, Iran would target American economic interests in the region “with 100 percent intensity and force.” Rezaei claimed that during the ceasefire, Iran exported 70–80 million barrels of oil and succeeded in breaking the naval blockade.
