Sowing Operations Begin Across City Nurseries

LAHORE, August 28: In line with Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif’s vision of a “Green & Prosperous Punjab,” the Horticulture Agency Lahore has accelerated preparations for the upcoming winter plantation season.

Under the directives of Managing Director Ahmed Usman Javed, the sowing of saplings and seeds of winter seasonal flowers has formally commenced at nurseries across Lahore. Preparations are also underway for plantation and beautification activities in public parks, along major roads and across green belts throughout the provincial capital.

Providing details, Managing Director Ahmed Usman Javed said the agency had procured high-quality seeds of three premium Marigold varieties — French Bonanza, Inca and Big Top — to enhance the aesthetic appeal and beauty of Lahore.

He said the seeds had been distributed among the Horticulture Directors of all eight zones of the agency, while seedbed preparation was currently underway across all zones.

The Managing Director said that once the saplings matured in the nurseries with the onset of the winter season, they would be systematically transplanted to green belts, public parks and decorative pots at prominent locations across Lahore.

Ahmed Usman Javed reaffirmed the agency’s commitment to transforming Lahore into a vibrant, lush and flower-filled city. He said special efforts were being made to ensure that parks, green belts and major thoroughfares across the city would bloom with vibrant colours during the upcoming winter season.

He added that the winter plantation drive would not only enhance the beauty of Lahore but also contribute to creating a greener and healthier urban environment for citizens.
