LAHORE: Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) President Faheem Ur Rehman Saigol chaired a meeting of the LCCI Standing Committee on Gems & Jewellery Reforms, focusing on challenges confronting the sector and measures required to accelerate its growth.
Standing Committee Convener Hammad Maqsood Gill attended the meeting along with committee members Sheikh Muhammad Zahid, Haji Rasheed, Sheikh Azaaz Deen, Sheikh Asif, Lala Sarfaraz, Saleem Ghori and Ustad Zaki.
The participants held detailed discussions on the key issues facing the gems and jewellery industry, including barriers affecting business activities and the need for comprehensive reforms to create a more supportive and competitive environment for traders and manufacturers.
The meeting also reviewed measures to promote investment and business activity in the sector, remove regulatory and industry-related obstacles and facilitate the expansion of Pakistan’s gems and jewellery trade.
Various proposals were presented with the objective of strengthening the sector, enhancing its export potential and improving the overall business environment for gems and jewellery traders and manufacturers.
The participants emphasized the need for practical, effective and business-friendly reforms to address the sector’s longstanding challenges and unlock its considerable potential.
They observed that a strengthened gems and jewellery industry could make a meaningful contribution to Pakistan’s exports, employment generation, investment and overall economic growth.
The meeting concluded with a renewed emphasis on coordinated efforts among stakeholders and the implementation of reforms aimed at transforming the sector into a more competitive and export-oriented industry.
