Gaza: Kuwait Specialty Hospital Suspends Routine Services Over Fuel Shortage

Gaza, The Kuwait Specialty Hospital in Khan Younis, in the southern Gaza Strip, announced on Sunday that it has suspended work in all departments except emergency care after its fuel supply ran out.
“We regret to announce that, due to the halt in fuel supplies needed to operate the facility, work in hospital departments other than the emergency department has been suspended from today, Sunday,” the hospital said in a statement. It warned that the ongoing crisis is leaving “thousands of civilians deprived of medical treatment on a daily basis.”
The development comes amid the continuing impact of Israel’s war on Gaza, including a tight blockade and widespread attacks on the territory’s infrastructure and healthcare system. Since October 2023, Israeli attacks in Gaza have killed more than 73,000 people and injured more than 174,000, while roughly 90 percent of the territory’s infrastructure has been destroyed.
Israel maintains a blockade of the territory and controls all crossings, severely disrupting the flow of essential supplies. A US-brokered temporary ceasefire is in effect, under which Israel was required to allow an adequate number of aid trucks and humanitarian supplies into Gaza daily. However, it has reportedly permitted only very small quantities of aid, leaving the entire territory short of basic necessities. The fuel shortage at hospitals is attributed to this blockade.
