Paperless System Launched at LGH; Paediatric Department Digitised in First Phase

LAHORE: Lahore General Hospital (LGH) has launched a paperless system, with the Paediatric Department being digitised in the first phase of a phased programme aimed at eventually eliminating paper-based processes across all hospital departments.

Under the initiative, laboratory test results, medication records, diagnostic reports and complete clinical histories of paediatric patients will be maintained through a secure online portal.

The move is expected to eliminate paper-based documentation in the department while improving administrative efficiency and supporting faster and more effective clinical care.

The inauguration ceremony was jointly presided over by Medical Superintendent LGH Prof. Dr Faryad Hussain and Professor Dr Muhammad Shahid. Director IT Dr Salman Shakeel and representatives of the Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB) were also present.

The project has been implemented with technical support from PITB.

Addressing the ceremony, Prof. Dr Faryad Hussain said the modern era was defined by digital technology and that equipping the healthcare system with modern technological tools had become an urgent necessity.

He said that, in line with Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif’s “Patient First” vision, the hospital was focused on providing patients with prompt and quality medical services.

Prof. Dr Faryad Hussain said digitisation would eliminate the risk of paper files being lost and provide doctors with instant, one-click access to patients’ complete medical histories.

He added that the system would help improve both the quality and speed of medical treatment.

The remaining departments of Lahore General Hospital will also be transitioned to the paperless model in subsequent phases.
