Maldivian President Dr Mohamed Muizzu, who is on a visit to Pakistan, was accorded a warm welcome at the Prime Minister’s House on Wednesday, where a formal welcome ceremony was held in his honour and he was presented a guard of honour.
Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif received the distinguished guest on his arrival. The two leaders shook hands and exchanged pleasantries. The national anthems of both countries were played.
A smartly turned-out contingent of the three armed services presented the guard of honour to the Maldivian president. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif stood alongside President Muizzu on the saluting dais, and the visiting leader inspected the guard.
The prime minister introduced members of the cabinet and senior officials of the PM House to the visiting president, while President Muizzu in turn introduced the members of his delegation to the prime minister.
President Muizzu also planted a sapling on the lawns of the Prime Minister’s House, and prayers were offered for the progress and prosperity of both countries.
