TEHRAN: Iranian authorities have installed an unusual public display in Tehran’s Tajrish Square showing US President Donald Trump behind prison bars, with an actor wearing a Trump mask moving inside a mock jail cell.
The billboard-style installation, unveiled on Wednesday, October 21, features a performer in a dark suit and red tie, wearing a prosthetic Trump mask, pacing around, clutching the bars and sitting inside the cell. Its slogan reads: “It is a crime not to see this scene.”
Passers-by stopped to watch, take photographs and record videos, causing traffic congestion in the busy square. Reports said the display was part of Iran’s response to the ongoing war with the United States and allegations of attacks on civilian sites.
Screens near the installation showed messages denouncing US “war crimes,” while media outlets close to Iranian authorities described the display as a call for justice over civilian deaths.
The installation also referenced an alleged US strike on a wedding ceremony in the southern Iranian town of Sirkik in early September, which Iranian sources said killed two women and two children and wounded more than 60 people.
