Kamalia,Pakistan’s Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb said on Sunday that a national climate and agricultural emergency has been declared, and the government will “do whatever is necessary” under the emergency framework.
Speaking to the media in Kamalia, Aurangzeb said committees have been formed to assess farmers’ losses, stressing that “our priority is relief for the people.” He noted that surveys are being conducted to evaluate damages from recent floods, with both the Prime Minister and the Army Chief visiting the affected regions.
The finance minister added that Pakistan’s economy is on a path to recovery. He said that with global fuel prices declining, international inflationary pressure is easing, and the government is taking steps to prevent artificial price hikes at home.
