Islamabad – Pakistan and Sri Lanka have reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening bilateral ties in diplomacy and security during a meeting between Pakistani officials and Sri Lanka’s top diplomats in Islamabad.
Ambassador to the Inter-Parliamentary Speakers Conference (ISC) and Adviser to the Chairman Senate, Misbah Khar, along with Tariq bin Waheed, Senior Director-General of Protocol, visited the Sri Lankan High Commission to extend a formal invitation for Sri Lankan parliamentary leaders to participate in the upcoming ISC Conference, scheduled for 11–12 November 2025 in Islamabad.
During discussions with High Commissioner Rear Admiral (Retd.) Fred Senevirathne and Deputy High Commissioner Christy Ruban, the Pakistani side highlighted the conference’s objectives of fostering multilateral cooperation, strengthening parliamentary diplomacy, and providing a platform for addressing regional challenges.
The Sri Lankan High Commissioner welcomed the initiative, praised Pakistan’s role in promoting regional dialogue, and acknowledged the historic friendship and strong bilateral relations between the two countries.
Both sides underscored the importance of maintaining close collaboration not only in parliamentary and diplomatic engagements but also in security cooperation, reaffirming their readiness to expand joint efforts in areas of mutual interest.
Sri Lanka confirmed its interest in active participation in the ISC Conference, viewing it as a timely platform to advance bilateral and regional cooperation.
