Islamabad – Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi has announced that PTI founder Imran Khan will be transferred to Islamabad jail once the facility is completed within the next two months.
Speaking to the media, Mohsin Naqvi stated that since the PTI founder was sentenced by an Islamabad court, he will be shifted to Islamabad jail in accordance with legal procedures. The minister emphasized that the transfer will take place as soon as the construction of the jail is finalized.
“The founder of PTI was sentenced by Islamabad court, therefore he will be transferred to Islamabad jail,” Naqvi told reporters, clarifying the legal basis for the planned transfer.
The Interior Minister further assured that the new jail facility is equipped with all necessary medical facilities to cater to the healthcare needs of inmates. “All medical facilities are available inside the jail,” he stated, addressing concerns about adequate healthcare provisions.
The construction of the Islamabad jail has been underway for some time, and authorities expect it to be fully operational within the next two months. Once completed, the facility will house prisoners convicted by courts in the federal capital.
Imran Khan, the founder of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), is currently incarcerated following convictions in multiple cases. The planned transfer to Islamabad jail represents a shift from his current place of detention.
