Karachi: The Sindh government is considering strict measures against parents who refuse to administer polio drops to their children, as part of renewed efforts to eradicate the crippling disease from the province.
Chairing a high-level meeting on polio eradication at the Chief Minister’s House, Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah said he had “no other option left but to take punitive action” against those neglecting their national responsibility.
Murad Ali Shah announced that the government is preparing to take firm administrative action against such parents — including blocking their mobile SIM cards, suspending national identity cards and passports, and restricting access to communication and travel facilities.
He emphasized that eliminating polio is a national and moral duty, warning that continued resistance could jeopardize Pakistan’s global reputation and the health of future generations.
