LAHORE: Principal of Ameer-ud-Din Medical College (AMC), Prof. Dr. Farooq Afzal, has said that teachers are the true architects of the nation and the guiding force behind the development of future generations. He described teachers as “the beauty of society,” emphasizing that their dedication and hard work form the cornerstone of youth empowerment and national progress.
Speaking on the occasion of World Teachers’ Day, Dr. Afzal highlighted that a teacher is not merely a source of knowledge but also a mentor for moral, intellectual, and character development. “The capability and commitment of teachers are fundamental in shaping the future of our young generation,” he said.
He likened teachers to candles that burn themselves to light the way for others, adding that in Islamic teachings, a teacher holds the status of a spiritual parent. “Nations that honor and respect their teachers always lead in knowledge, ethics, and development,” he observed.
Dr. Afzal underscored that respect and dignity for teachers should be upheld through practical measures, not just words. “True respect means providing teachers with adequate facilities, involving them in decision-making, and ensuring their professional dignity,” he stated.
Emphasizing discipline and manners among students, he said, “Students must remember that with respect comes success, and without respect, failure is inevitable. Only by honoring their teachers can students truly benefit from their wisdom and experience.”
Expressing gratitude to the teaching community, Dr. Afzal called teachers “the guiding lights who illuminate not only institutions but entire nations with their knowledge, research, and values.”
He reaffirmed his commitment that Ameer-ud-Din Medical College, Postgraduate Medical Institute, and Lahore General Hospital will continue to promote academic excellence, strengthen research opportunities, and uphold the professional dignity of their faculty members.
