Following a directive from the Peshawar High Court, the oath-taking ceremony of the newly elected Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Sohaib Afridi, is scheduled to take place today (Wednesday) at 4 p.m. at the Governor House in Peshawar. The Governor House has officially informed the Chief Minister’s Secretariat of the arrangements.
According to official sources, Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa cut short his visit to Sindh and returned to Peshawar last night to comply with the court’s orders and administer the oath to the newly elected chief minister.
The Peshawar High Court had instructed the governor to administer the oath by 4 p.m. today, emphasizing that in the event of his unavailability, the Speaker of the Provincial Assembly would be authorized to perform the ceremony instead.
Earlier, the Speaker of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly had written a formal letter to the governor, reminding him of the court’s ruling and urging that the oath not be delayed, noting that he would assume responsibility if the governor failed to do so.
