LAHORE, Pakistan. The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has announced a new initiative to fund both cricket training and educational expenses for young players in its development programs, officials said Thursday.
Under the plan, boys from under-15 to under-19 levels will be enrolled in year-round academies where they will receive both cricket coaching and formal education, with all costs borne by the PCB.
According to sources, the Sialkot academy will be dedicated to under-15 cricketers, the Faisalabad academy to under-17, and the Multan academy to under-19 players. Selection will be based on performances in regional cricket.
The board will also pay for school and college admissions, ensuring that players’ academic development continues alongside their cricket careers.
Meanwhile, the Karachi academy has been earmarked for the Pakistan women’s team, as well as Shaheens and ‘A’ team activities.
