RAWALPINDI –M.Saleem jutt . Police in Rawalpindi have deported 3,000 Afghan nationals since the beginning of 2025, fulfilling their assigned task under the government’s repatriation drive, according to police sources.
The deported group included 1,600 men, over 550 women, and 825 children.
In September alone, police detained 219 Afghan nationals and shifted them to a holding camp. Of these, 44 have already been deported, while 173 others are expected to be sent back to Kabul today.
Breakdown of recent detentions shows that police picked up 45 Afghans from Chontra, 73 from Saddar Bairooni, and 22 from Gujar Khan. Additionally, 12 were detained by Wah Saddar police, while 10 each were arrested in Dhamial and Mandra. Smaller groups were taken into custody from Taxila (8), Jatli (7), Banni (7), Pirwadhai (6), and Naseerabad (6).
Authorities have stepped up operations across Punjab as part of nationwide efforts to repatriate undocumented Afghan nationals.
