Islamabad – Authorities have decided to resume one-way traffic on the flood-affected M-5 Motorway, officials confirmed on Tuesday.
Federal Secretary for Communications, accompanied by the Chairman of the National Highway Authority (NHA), inspected the damaged sections of the motorway at Jalalpur on the instructions of Federal Minister for Communications Abdul Aleem Khan.
According to the secretary, engineers and relevant authorities have been directed to expedite restoration work. The motorway sustained damage at four locations due to flooding, with repair and rehabilitation now underway on an emergency basis.
Officials said restoration efforts are not only focused on reopening the motorway but also on implementing preventive measures to avoid further damage. In addition, consultations with elected representatives and district administration in Multan are scheduled today to review progress on road rehabilitation in the affected areas.
