The Punjab government has announced that all Waste Management Companies (WMCs) across the province will be ranked based on performance, following directives from Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif.
The decision was taken in a meeting chaired by Local Government Minister Zeeshan Rafique, with company CEOs and senior officials in attendance. SOPs for ranking have already been issued.
Rafique urged WMCs to achieve 100 percent of their targets under the Suthra Punjab program, introduce double shifts in major commercial areas, and strengthen contractor monitoring. He praised the role of WMCs during recent floods, calling for recognition of those involved in relief efforts.
Secretary Local Government Shakeel Ahmed Mian assured full support, stating no shortage of resources would be allowed. A joint conference of CEOs and contractors will be held at the Civil Secretariat on September 20.
