LAHORE: Punjab’s Minister for Information and Culture, Azma Bokhari, has warned that no one will be allowed to politicize the plight of flood victims, stressing that those unable to provide practical support should refrain from making “unnecessary statements.”
Speaking a day after Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz defended the province’s position on national platforms, Bokhari said the people of Punjab had given Nawaz a clear mandate which she was committed to safeguarding.
The minister underlined that politics should not be conducted in the name of floods, adding that individuals and organizations sincerely working for affected communities must be allowed to continue without disruption.
Bokhari further stated that while the government consistently presented its performance to the public, political opponents sought headlines through point-scoring. She added that Chief Minister Nawaz had introduced a new standard of merit, transparency, and governance in Punjab — achievements which, she said, were being welcomed by the public.
