Pakistan’s star wicketkeeper-batsman Mohammad Rizwan has reportedly refused to sign the central contract offered by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), instead putting forward a set of demands for consideration.
According to sources, the PCB had offered central contracts to 30 national players, with Rizwan placed in Category B alongside nine other cricketers. Notably, no player was included in Category A this year.
While all other players have signed their contracts, Rizwan has withheld his signature, pending the board’s response to his demands.
Sources further indicate that the PCB has not accepted Rizwan’s requests, and there appears to be little likelihood of approval at this stage.
The standoff between Rizwan and the PCB comes amid increasing scrutiny over the board’s contract structure and player categorization, which some players reportedly view as disproportionate to their performance and seniority.
The development could potentially impact Pakistan’s team dynamics ahead of upcoming international commitments if the matter remains unresolved.
