GAZA/WEST BANK — A Palestinian prisoner released from an Israeli jail under the recent Gaza ceasefire agreement expressed deep gratitude to the people of Gaza and the resistance movement for securing their freedom.
Speaking to media after arriving in the West Bank, the released detainee said, “We first thank Allah, and then we kiss the feet of the people of Gaza and the resistance who brought us freedom with dignity.”
Under the terms of the truce, Hamas has freed 20 Israeli hostages in exchange for the release of nearly 2,000 Palestinian prisoners from Israeli jails.
The freed Palestinian prayed for the release of all remaining detainees, saying, “Just as we have reunited with our families, may every prisoner soon return home.”
When asked about the conditions in Israeli prisons, he described them as “extremely harsh,” adding, “We were taken out of our cells four days ago, beaten, and humiliated continuously.”
The prisoner’s testimony highlights the dire conditions faced by Palestinians detained in Israeli facilities and comes as international observers call for stronger oversight of prisoner treatment amid ongoing ceasefire negotiations.
