Baku/Islamabad:
Azerbaijan has officially received its first batch of JF-17 Thunder Block III fighter jets from Pakistan, marking a significant milestone in defense cooperation between the two nations.
According to defense sources, three aircraft, including one dual-seat trainer jet, were recently spotted bearing Azerbaijani Air Force insignia.
The delivery is part of a major defense deal valued between USD 1.6 billion and 4.6 billion, under which Pakistan will supply 40 JF-17 Block III aircraft to Azerbaijan.
Developed jointly by Pakistan Aeronautical Complex (PAC) and China’s Chengdu Aircraft Corporation (CAC), the JF-17 Block III is the most advanced variant, featuring an AESA radar, upgraded avionics, and enhanced combat capabilities — strengthening Azerbaijan’s aerial defense fleet.
