Pakistan’s security forces have successfully thwarted an infiltration attempt from across the Afghan border, killing 25 militants, including four suicide bombers, in two major encounters over the past 48 hours, according to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).
In a statement released on Sunday, the ISPR said that two groups of militants, reportedly backed by India, attempted to infiltrate Pakistani territory from Afghanistan on October 24 and 25. Alert troops detected the movements in Spinkai, North Waziristan, and Ghakhi, Kurram District, and launched prompt operations to eliminate the threat.
During the intense exchange of fire, 15 militants, including four suicide bombers, were killed in North Waziristan, while 10 more were neutralized in Kurram. The ISPR confirmed that the militants were affiliated with the Indian-sponsored extremist faction “Fitna al-Khawarij.”
The operations came at a heavy cost, with five Pakistani soldiers embracing martyrdom in the line of duty. The martyred soldiers were identified as Havaldar Manzoor Hussain, Sepoy Nauman Ilyas Kayani, Sepoy Muhammad Adeel, Sepoy Shahjahan, and Sepoy Ali Asghar.
Security forces also recovered a large cache of weapons, explosives, and ammunition from the slain militants.
The military’s media wing stated that the timing of these infiltration attempts—coinciding with ongoing Pakistan-Afghanistan talks in Türkiye—raises serious concerns about the intentions of the interim Afghan government regarding cross-border terrorism.
ISPR reaffirmed Pakistan’s determination to defend its borders and eliminate terrorist threats, stressing that the sacrifices of its soldiers will not go in vain.
