LAHORE: Inspector General of Police Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar has continued comprehensive welfare measures for police personnel and their families, with more than Rs1.84 billion spent so far during the current year on various welfare initiatives.
According to a Punjab Police spokesperson, over Rs556.3 million have been disbursed as educational scholarships for the children of police employees, while wedding gifts worth Rs500.5 million were provided for the marriages of their daughters.
In addition, Rs280 million were spent to support medical treatment facilities for police personnel and their families, and over Rs241.2 million were released under retirement grants.
The spokesperson further said that subsistence allowances amounting to more than Rs189.9 million were provided to families of police employees. Likewise, Rs56.25 million were distributed as burial expenses, and over Rs16.4 million were released as emergency financial assistance.
IG Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar said that funds from the Police Welfare Fund and other welfare sources are being utilized to address the needs and challenges faced by police personnel and their families. He added that MoUs have been signed with leading hospitals and educational institutions to ensure quality healthcare and education for police employees and their dependents.
