LAHORE: The Communication and Works (C&W) Department Punjab has intensified its efforts to control smog by implementing strict environmental safety measures at construction sites across the province.
An important meeting, chaired by Provincial Minister for Communication and Works Malik Sohaib Ahmad Bharth, reviewed the progress of ongoing anti-smog operations in Lahore and other districts.
During the meeting, departmental officers briefed the minister that regular water sprinkling is being carried out at all highway and building construction projects to reduce dust and smog emissions. They added that in the building sector, water sprinklers are being used effectively to maintain cleaner air quality around project areas.
Minister Malik Sohaib Ahmad Bharth directed all Executive Engineers (XENs) to regularly inspect construction sites and ensure strict compliance with cleaning and water sprinkling measures. He also instructed that all workers must wear protective masks to safeguard their health from pollution-related risks.
The minister emphasized that the C&W Department is playing an active role in the Punjab Government’s anti-smog campaign, and issued a stern warning that strict action will be taken against contractors who fail to comply with environmental safety protocols.
