LAHORE: Punjab Police has intensified efforts to enforce traffic regulations across the province, issuing 27,292 driving licenses within the last 24 hours, according to a police spokesperson.
During the same period, authorities issued 38,736 traffic challans for various violations, imposing fines amounting to 28 million rupees. As part of the crackdown, challans were issued to 4,375 smoke-emitting vehicles, while 160 vehicles were impounded at local police stations.
Inspector General of Punjab Police, Dr. Usman Anwar, directed officers to maintain strict enforcement and continue action against major violations, including overloading, overspeeding, underage driving, and wrong-way movement.
He added that Punjab Police operates 127 Driving Training Schools across the province, providing structured driving education to citizens. The IG further instructed officials to ensure effective mechanisms for the recovery of unpaid traffic fines.
