LAHORE, Pakistan — Police in Dera Ghazi Khan have arrested a man accused of physically assaulting his mother, following a distressing open-court complaint in which the elderly woman recounted years of abuse, threats, and domestic conflict that endangered her life and dignity.
District Police Officer (DPO) Muhammad Ali Wasim, who took immediate notice of the complaint, condemned the violence and directed the concerned police team to act without delay. The accused was swiftly arrested, and a formal case has been registered under relevant domestic abuse and assault laws.
DPO Wasim emphasized that violence against women will not be tolerated under any circumstances, noting that a strict zero-tolerance policy is being implemented across the district. He said all complaints of domestic abuse will be handled promptly, transparently, and with firm action to ensure timely justice.
According to police officials, victims of domestic violence and harassment in DG Khan will receive comprehensive support under DPO Wasim’s leadership, including legal protection and safeguards for their life, property, dignity, and fundamental rights. The police reiterated their commitment to holding perpetrators fully accountable while prioritizing victim safety.
Authorities urged citizens to report instances of domestic abuse without hesitation, stressing that early reporting enables swift intervention and prevents further harm. The DPO said such vigilance reinforces the message that abuse will not be tolerated in the community.
This case underscores the DG Khan police’s strengthened efforts to protect vulnerable groups and enforce domestic violence laws, aligning with the Punjab Chief Minister’s “Never Again” initiative to safeguard marginalized and at-risk citizens.
