LAHORE: Authorities have successfully thwarted an attempt to illegally acquire Food Department land in Mandi Bahauddin through fraudulent transfer deeds, officials confirmed. The action was taken under the instructions of Secretary Price Control Dr. Kiran Khurshid.
The Additional Commissioner Revenue conducted an inquiry after reports emerged regarding efforts to unlawfully seize 10 marlas of Food Department land located on Railway Road, Mandi Bahauddin. The investigation revealed that transfer numbers 7511 and 7512 were fake and bogus, leading to their cancellation. The land has now been restored to the Food Department.
According to the spokesperson for the Price Control Commodities Management, the warehouse at Chak No. 51, Mandi Bahauddin Railway Road had been fraudulently transferred in 2005 by Abdul Wahab, son of Abdul Sattar, in collusion with the local patwari. The property, measuring 20 kanals and 17 marlas and enclosed by a boundary wall, has always been legally owned and under the cultivation rights of the Government of Punjab.
The fraudulent attempt specifically targeted 10 marlas of this government-owned land. Following intervention, all illegal structures on the plot were demolished, and control of the site was returned to the District Food Controller’s office.
Secretary Dr. Kiran Khurshid has ordered a full inquiry to identify the officers involved in the fake transfers, with strict legal action to be taken against those responsible.
The case underscores the government’s commitment to protecting public property and ensuring accountability in administrative processes.
