Berlin/Islamabad, 18 December 2025 – Germany is preparing to bring 535 Afghan nationals with existing admission approvals from Pakistan before the end of the year. The initiative aims to complete the relocation of those already granted legal entry under Germany’s federal and local staff admission programs.
Of the total, approximately 460 Afghans are being relocated through Germany’s federal admission program, while 75 individuals are part of a special program for Afghans who previously worked with German organizations.
German Interior Minister Alexander Dobrindt confirmed that Berlin is coordinating closely with Pakistani authorities to facilitate the departures. A charter flight recently transported 160 Afghans from Islamabad to Berlin after completing the necessary processing.
The relocations are part of Germany’s broader efforts to manage migration and honor commitments to vulnerable Afghan nationals. Pakistan has urged that all approved cases be processed by the end of December, highlighting the urgency of the operation.
This development comes amid growing international attention on the resettlement of Afghan nationals still awaiting relocation, reflecting ongoing debates in Europe on refugee and migration policies.
