Lahore, Pakistan — Senior Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Saad Rafique has stated that amid growing political tensions, no one is willing to grant bail to former Prime Minister Imran Khan, and the responsibility now falls on former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif to step forward and play a constructive role.
Speaking at a public address, Rafique emphasized that Nawaz Sharif, as the senior-most political leader, must engage in dialogue to ease pressure on opponents and help stabilize the political environment. He questioned the prevailing narratives, asking:
“Were all of Pakistan’s Prime Ministers traitors? Were all judges and chiefs patriotic?”
Rafique stressed that for the sake of public confidence and the preservation of democratic processes, all political forces must approach the situation seriously. He warned against one-sided interpretations of historical decisions, arguing that constructive dialogue is the only viable path forward in the current political scenario.
The PML-N leader highlighted that responsible leadership and proactive engagement are essential to ensure political stability, strengthen democracy, and restore public trust in national institutions.
International observers note that the political standoff in Pakistan is drawing increasing global attention, given its potential impact on governance, economic stability, and regional security.
