Karachi: The Democrats Panel has once again dominated the Karachi Press Club (KPC) annual elections for 2026, securing a clean sweep for the 18th consecutive time across all major positions.
Polling was held on Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., witnessing strong participation and enthusiasm among KPC members. A large number of journalists turned out to cast their votes.
The Election Committee Chairman, Dr. Tauseef Ahmed Khan, formally announced the results at the Karachi Press Club.
According to the official results, Fazal Jameeli of the Democrats Panel was elected President after securing 536 votes, while Aslam Khan won the post of Secretary with 493 votes.
For other key positions, Irshad Khokhar was elected Vice President with 480 votes, Imran Ayub secured 622 votes to become Treasurer, and Farooq Sami was elected Joint Secretary with 556 votes.
Seven members were elected to the Governing Body, including Abdul Jabbar Nasir, Akhtar Hussain Soomro, Sheema Siddiqui, Faryal Arif, Javed Saba, Syed Farid Alam, and Javed Mehr.
The elections were contested among the Democrats Panel, Democrat Panel, Green Panel, and independent candidates. Out of 1,369 registered voters, 1,011 members exercised their right to vote.
