LAHORE: Punjab Police on Tuesday held a formal ceremony at the Central Police Office to award promotion rank badges to officers elevated to the rank of Inspector, following directives from Inspector General of Police (IGP) Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar.
A total of 44 officers received inspector rank badges, including 21 officers from the Multan Region and 23 from the Bahawalpur Region. The ceremony was attended by a large number of family members, including parents and children of the promoted officers. Senior police leadership congratulated the officers and their families on the occasion.
Addressing the ceremony, IG Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar said that under the special patronage of Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif, and with the continued support of the Punjab government, significant improvements have been made in the Punjab Police’s human resource management, logistics, infrastructure, and transport sectors. He expressed gratitude to the provincial government for its sustained backing.
He said that, as in the previous year, 2025 remained a year of fast-track promotions, during which 1,047 sub-inspectors were promoted to the rank of Inspector through seven promotion boards. He added that early next year, additional promotion boards will be convened to promote more than 100 officers to the rank of Inspector, noting that promotion schedules for officers of various ranks have already been finalized.
Dr. Anwar directed officers eligible for promotion to ensure timely completion of mandatory courses, service records, annual confidential reports (ACRs), and other required documentation. He stressed that promotions and welfare initiatives must be matched with professional conduct, urging officers to treat citizens and complainants with respect, dignity, and courtesy.
“In return for promotions, welfare, and motivation, police officers must deliver selfless service to the people of Pakistan,” he said.
Among the promoted officers, Inspector Jibran Gerard from the Christian community and Inspector Shaman Ram from the Hindu community, both from the Bahawalpur Region, were also awarded promotion rank badges.
The ceremony was attended by Additional IG Punjab Imran Arshad, DIG Establishment-I Suleman Sultan Rana, DIG Headquarters Dr. Muhammad Abid Khan, DIG Establishment-II Captain (R) Liaquat Ali Malik, along with AIGs, SPs, and other senior officers.
