LAHORE: Punjab Horticulture Authority (PHA) Director General Naheed Gul Baloch has directed the heads of newly established district horticulture agencies to submit comprehensive plans detailing steps to initiate operations in their respective cities.
The directive was issued during a meeting with managing directors of 11 newly formed district horticulture agencies, recently notified by the Punjab government. The agencies will operate in Jhang, Rahim Yar Khan, Khushab, Nankana Sahib, Sheikhupura, Okara, Gujrat, Jhelum, Murree, Khanewal, and Muzaffargarh.
Ms. Baloch instructed the managing directors to present clear roadmaps for the commencement of operations and to propose initiatives aimed at improving horticultural development and enhancing the aesthetic appeal of urban areas. She said the provincial authority is committed to promoting a greener Punjab in line with the chief minister’s vision, with particular emphasis on underdeveloped and remote districts.
To support the transition, the provincial government has constituted District Transition Teams (DTTs), initially headed by the respective deputy commissioners. These teams will supervise the transfer of material resources and human assets from municipal committees to the newly created horticulture agencies.
The PHA director general also directed managing directors to ensure the provision of standardized uniforms for staff, featuring the PHA logo, to maintain institutional identity and professionalism across all districts.
