LAHORE: Chief of the Naval Staff Admiral Naveed Ashraf NI, NI(M), T.Bt, in his capacity as Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Board of Governors (BoG) of Bahria University, chaired the 55th BoG meeting at the Bahria University Head Office, Islamabad, on 12 January 2026.
The meeting commenced with a detailed briefing on the university’s key activities, flagship programs, and strategic initiatives. Admiral Naveed Ashraf praised Bahria University’s recent milestones, including its advancements in academic excellence, research output, and innovative learning methodologies designed to meet the needs of a rapidly evolving digital world.
During the session, the Board reviewed and approved several key academic, research, and institutional initiatives. These included the re-organization of Bahria Business School and the ratification of the revised policy for Psychological Service Centers to enhance student and community wellbeing. Amendments to University Statutes and Academic Regulations were also approved.
Progress on strategic development and innovation initiatives was presented, including the advancement of the Pakistan Maritime Science and Technology Park (PMSTP). The Board also reviewed and authorized the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the China Sinology Center (CSC), executed in Beijing, to develop a research facility at Bahria University’s Lahore Campus (BULC).
Admiral Naveed Ashraf expressed confidence that Bahria University would continue to advance under its current leadership. He emphasized the importance of quality initiatives aligned with emerging academic and research needs, as well as the cultivation of moral values, civic sense, and personal development (Tarbiyyat), which remain central to the university’s vision of holistic education alongside academic excellence.
The BoG meeting was attended by Board members, including Rector Vice Admiral Abid Hameed HI(M), senior academicians, the Vice Chancellor, senior naval and civil officers, and top management of Bahria University.
