Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif met with Khalaf Khalafov, the special representative of Azerbaijan’s President, at the PM House in Islamabad on Saturday.
During the meeting, PM Shehbaz emphasized the fraternal bonds between Pakistan and Azerbaijan, expressing his commitment to strengthen bilateral relations across all sectors. He conveyed warm greetings to President Ilham Aliyev and praised his leadership in elevating Azerbaijan’s international standing.
The Prime Minister noted that both countries are close to finalizing a $2 billion investment agreement from Azerbaijan to Pakistan. He also extended an invitation to President Aliyev to visit Pakistan at his earliest convenience.
Regional security issues were also discussed, with PM Shehbaz stressing the importance of regular coordination between the two nations to maintain regional peace and stability.
Khalafov conveyed President Aliyev’s greetings and commended PM Shehbaz’s leadership in achieving economic, security, and diplomatic successes for Pakistan. He thanked Pakistan for its support during Azerbaijan’s second Karabakh conflict and reaffirmed Azerbaijan’s position on the Kashmir issue.
The Azerbaijani representative also delivered a letter from President Aliyev acknowledging Pakistan’s appreciation for Azerbaijan’s support in establishing the Asaan Khidmat Markaz in Islamabad, which was inaugurated earlier this month.
