The Chief Secretary Punjab has removed Director General Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) Kinza Murtaza from her post following the emergence of a major financial scandal involving more than two billion rupees during her tenure
In a notification issued by Chief Secretary Punjab Zahid Akhtar Zaman, Kinza Murtaza has been transferred and posted as Director General Barani Area Development Agency, Abbottabad. Commissioner Rawalpindi Amir Khattak has been given additional charge as Director General RDA
The scandal came to light during Kinza Murtaza’s tenure as DG RDA. The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has sought property and asset details of 48 individuals, including DG Kinza Murtaza, seven former DG RDA officers, and officials linked to Lahore Development Authority, Karachi Development Authority, Malir Development Authority, Gwadar Development Authority, Rawalpindi Development Authority and Capital Development Authority
A Fact Finding Inquiry Committee constituted by the Chief Secretary Punjab to probe the RDA financial irregularities has not yet submitted or made public its report
NAB investigation has made significant headway. Two individuals have already been sent to jail in connection with the case while one person has entered into a plea bargain. According to sources, more than two billion rupees were allegedly transferred from official RDA accounts through fake Cheque Deposit Receipts (CDR). Funds from contractor security deposit accounts were also reportedly moved to other private accounts
At present, 143 illegal housing schemes continue to operate in areas under the control of Rawalpindi Development Authority
