Lahore: The Government of Pakistan has announced that the national team will participate in the ICC T20 World Cup but will not play its scheduled match against India on February 15.
According to sources, multiple factors contributed to the decision to boycott the match against India. Government officials said that a key reason was the International Cricket Council’s alleged biased decision regarding Bangladesh, and Pakistan wanted to express solidarity with Bangladesh on the issue.
Sources further claimed that due to what they described as partisan decisions by Jay Shah, the ICC has increasingly appeared to function as an “Indian Cricket Council,” undermining the principles of fairness and equality in international cricket.
Government sources maintained that the ICC platform applies different standards for different countries, which reflects clear bias. They said it was necessary for Pakistan to formally register its protest against such discriminatory practices.
