Islamabad:
Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (F) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman said he is often told that he is a decent man and therefore should not be involved in politics, asserting that religious scholars have an equal—if not greater—right to political leadership.
Addressing a gathering, he said that only religious scholars can stand on the pulpit of the Prophet (PBUH), and likewise, the seat of politics also rightfully belongs to scholars.
He rejected the notion of separating religion from politics, calling it contrary to Islamic teachings.
The JUI-F leader further stated that he would not accept any legislation that goes against the Quran and Sunnah, warning that such laws would face resistance.
He emphasized that religious scholars have historically guided society and will continue to play their role in shaping the country’s future.
