ISLAMABAD: Pakistan is expected to witness an increase in petroleum prices from February 16, with petrol prices likely to go up by Rs4 per litre and diesel by Rs5 per litre.
According to sources, the anticipated hike is attributed to rising crude oil prices in the international market, which is expected to impact petroleum product prices in Pakistan.
If the government approves the proposed increase, petrol will become Rs4 more expensive per litre, while diesel prices will see a Rs5 per litre hike.
The government reviews petroleum prices every fortnight based on recommendations from the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA), taking into account international market trends and currency exchange rates.
This potential increase is likely to add to the financial burden on citizens who are already grappling with rising inflation and cost of living pressures.
The final decision on price adjustments is expected to be announced on February 15, with the new rates taking effect from February 16, 2026.
