LAHORE, February 16: Provincial Minister for Information and Culture Punjab Azma Bokhari extended heartfelt congratulations to the newly elected office-bearers of the Punjab Union of Journalists (PUJ). She conveyed her best wishes to newly elected President Naeem Hanif, Secretary Qamar Bhatti, and the entire executive body.
Azma Bokhari praised PUJ’s long-standing and commendable history of struggle for press freedom and the protection of journalists’ rights. She highlighted that the union has consistently played a frontline role in addressing challenges faced by the journalist community and has effectively represented their interests during difficult times.
The Provincial Minister reaffirmed the Punjab Government’s commitment to safeguarding journalists’ welfare and ensuring timely resolution of their issues. She emphasized that, under the leadership of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, the journalist community remains a top priority, with practical measures being implemented to support them.
Azma Bokhari expressed confidence that the newly elected PUJ leadership will perform its responsibilities with sincerity and professionalism, actively working to protect journalists’ rights, resolve their concerns, and further strengthen journalistic values in the province.
