Tehran (April 15, 2026) — Pakistan’s Chief of Defence Forces and Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir has arrived in Tehran leading a high-level Pakistani delegation as part of ongoing mediation efforts between the United States and Iran.
The delegation includes Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi and other senior officials. Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi personally welcomed the Pakistani delegation upon their arrival at the airport.
According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the visit is aimed at preparing for the second round of US-Iran negotiations following the inconclusive talks held in Islamabad last week. The delegation is expected to hold meetings with Iran’s top leadership to discuss message exchanges, the next phase of talks, and broader regional stability.
Pakistan has been playing a key facilitating role in de-escalating tensions in the Middle East. The visit comes amid a fragile ceasefire between the US and Iran, with both sides continuing indirect communications through Pakistani channels.
Analysts view this high-profile engagement as a significant diplomatic move by Islamabad to help broker a lasting peace agreement and reduce risks of further conflict in the strategically important region.
No further details on the schedule of meetings have been released yet, but sources indicate intensive discussions are expected in the coming days.
