Lahore/Islamabad,Renowned investigative journalist and television anchor Iqrar ul Hassan has officially resigned from ARY News after a remarkable 21-year association with the channel.
In a video message shared on his social media accounts (including Instagram), Iqrar ul Hassan announced that he had to make a difficult choice between continuing his media career and focusing on his newly launched political party, Pakistan Awam Raj Tehreek (Awam Raj). He chose to prioritize politics, stating: “I had to choose between ARY and the Awam Raj movement, so I have selected Awam Raj.”
He described his two-decade journey with ARY as “a blessing,” filled with cherished memories. He expressed gratitude to ARY owner Salman Iqbal and the management, saying the chapter has ended on a positive note. Iqrar also thanked viewers for their love and support, especially for his flagship investigative program Sar-e-Aam.
Iqrar ul Hassan joined ARY in the mid-2000s when the channel’s broadcasts were based in Dubai. He rose to national prominence through fearless investigative journalism and became widely recognized for exposing social issues and corruption on Sar-e-Aam.
His resignation comes months after he formally launched the Awam Raj political party in January 2026, positioning it as a people-centric, non-hereditary democratic platform aimed at bringing change in Pakistan.
The announcement has sparked widespread reactions on social media, with supporters praising his decision and others speculating about his future political role.
