LAHORE: A fire broke out at a chemical factory located near Hanjarwal, Lahore, prompting an immediate response from emergency services.
Provincial Minister for Energy, Malik Faisal Ayub Khokhar, took swift notice of the incident and visited the site to oversee rescue and firefighting operations. During his visit, he directed Rescue 1122, the Fire Brigade, and other relevant departments to utilize all available resources to control the blaze as quickly as possible. He also ordered the deployment of additional firefighting vehicles to accelerate the operation.
Speaking to the media, the minister stated that the timely and coordinated response of rescue teams played a crucial role in bringing the fire under control. He noted that the presence of chemicals at the factory intensified the fire, making firefighting efforts more challenging. However, he added that professional teams are actively engaged, and the cooling process is ongoing.
He expressed relief that no loss of life has been reported so far, attributing this to the prompt response of emergency services. Malik Faisal Ayub Khokhar further highlighted that the district administration, police, and rescue departments are working in close coordination to manage the situation, while ensuring safety measures in surrounding areas.
The minister ordered a comprehensive and transparent inquiry into the incident, stating that the exact cause of the fire will be determined through an investigation. He emphasized that strict legal action will be taken against anyone found negligent. Additionally, he directed authorities to review and strengthen safety protocols in industrial units to prevent similar incidents in the future.
