LAHORE: In line with directives of the Chief Minister Punjab, strict monitoring of development projects under the Punjab Development Program is ongoing across the province. In this regard, Secretary Housing Punjab Noor Ul Amin Mengal visited Hafizabad to review progress on various development schemes.
During the visit, Deputy Commissioner Hafizabad Abdul Razzaq accompanied him, while MD WASA Hafizabad Bilal Feroz briefed the delegation on ongoing projects. Officials informed that 39 percent of the sewerage project has been completed so far, while construction of disposal stations is nearing completion.
The Secretary Housing directed authorities to further accelerate the pace of work and emphasized that, to minimize inconvenience to the public, maximum development activities should be carried out during nighttime. He also stressed strict adherence to safety SOPs at all sites to prevent any untoward incidents.
According to the Housing Department spokesperson, a sewerage program worth Rs 7.2 billion is underway in Hafizabad. The project includes the construction of 73 kilometers of sewerage lines and 4.4 kilometers of rainwater drains. Additionally, two new disposal stations are being constructed, while one existing station is being upgraded.
The development package also includes rehabilitation of 10.5 kilometers of roads and infrastructure improvements covering approximately two million square feet of tuff tiles and PCC to enhance urban mobility and public facilities.
Noor Ul Amin Mengal stated that all projects will be completed in a timely and quality manner in line with the vision of the Chief Minister Punjab, adding that no negligence or delay will be tolerated.
The spokesperson further noted that, on the Chief Minister’s directions, a series of site visits has been initiated, and inspections in other districts will continue to ensure improved pace and quality of development work across the province.
