LAHORE — Lahore Police have arrested a man who disguised himself as a police officer to rob citizens across the city, with authorities confirming he is linked to more than 50 criminal incidents.
According to police spokesperson, the suspect would don a counterfeit police uniform and stop unsuspecting citizens on roads and in public areas, threatening them with fabricated legal action before robbing them of cash, mobile phones, and other valuables. The crimes were carried out across multiple neighborhoods of Lahore over an extended period.
During initial interrogation, the accused confessed to committing over 50 such robberies. Law enforcement officials recovered a fake police uniform, forged identification documents, and stolen goods from his possession at the time of arrest.
A senior Lahore Police officer stated that following a surge in citizen complaints, a special investigation team was formed. Surveillance footage from CCTV cameras across the city proved instrumental in identifying and tracking down the suspect.
Authorities have confirmed that investigations are ongoing to determine whether the accused operated as part of a larger criminal network, and efforts are underway to apprehend any possible accomplices.
Lahore Police have urged citizens to remain vigilant and immediately report any suspicious individuals posing as law enforcement officers by contacting Rescue 1122 or their nearest police station. Residents have also been advised never to hand over valuables to unverified personnel claiming to be police officers.
