LAHORE — Punjab Traffic Police have launched a province-wide crackdown on traffic law violations effective today, with authorities announcing a zero tolerance policy across all districts of the province.
DIG Traffic Punjab stated that a comprehensive two-week public awareness campaign was conducted to educate citizens about traffic regulations and road safety. With the awareness phase now concluded, strict enforcement action will be taken against all violators without exception.
“We gave the public ample time to understand and comply with traffic laws,” said DIG Traffic. “The awareness campaign is over — now it is time for action. No violations will be tolerated anywhere in Punjab.”
Traffic authorities have identified key violations that will be prioritized during the crackdown, including signal jumping, wrong-lane driving, use of mobile phones while driving, failure to wear seatbelts, riding motorcycles without helmets, and over-speeding. Offenders face heavy fines as well as potential vehicle impoundment.
The operation has been launched simultaneously across all districts of Punjab, with additional traffic personnel deployed at key intersections and high-risk zones. Smart surveillance cameras and modern monitoring technology will also be actively utilized to detect and penalize violations.
Punjab Traffic Police have appealed to citizens to respect traffic laws, prioritize road safety, and fulfill their responsibilities as law-abiding members of society — not only to avoid penalties but to protect their own lives and the lives of fellow road users.
