First Public-Level Meeting of Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei Since His Appointment
Tehran (International News Agencies) — Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian held a nearly two-and-a-half-hour meeting with Supreme Leader Ayatollah Mojtaba Khamenei amid recent US and Israeli strikes on Iran. This is the first publicly confirmed meeting of Mojtaba Khamenei with a senior official since he assumed the position of Supreme Leader.
In a statement broadcast on state television, President Pezeshkian described the meeting as cordial, close, and held in an atmosphere of trust and empathy. He praised the Supreme Leader’s vision, humble and sincere approach, saying the discussions were “frank, direct, and based on trust and calm dialogue.”
Mojtaba Khamenei, son of the late Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, was appointed Supreme Leader in March 2026 following his father’s death during the conflict. He has not appeared in public since his appointment. This meeting signals unity and coordination within Iran’s top leadership during a period of heightened regional tensions.
President Pezeshkian briefed the Supreme Leader on the regional situation during the extended meeting.
