CHINIOT: Qaiser Ahmed Sheikh, Federal Minister and Chairman of the Board of Investment, has said that the development of Chiniot is his top priority, pledging to transform the district into a modern city through large-scale development projects.
He expressed these views during an exclusive conversation with Mian Saleem Wali, Bureau Chief of Daily Juraat, Tijarat wa The Business.
The Federal Minister said that hundreds of streets in the city have been paved in recent years, significantly changing the landscape of Chiniot. He highlighted that the important Chiniot-Faisalabad Road project, which had remained stalled for the past 10 years, was revived after continuous efforts. Through coordination with both the Federal Government and the Punjab government, the project received approval and is now being executed on an emergency basis for early completion.
He added that the city’s long-standing sewerage problems would also be resolved soon, while several new development schemes are expected to begin in the near future.
Speaking about healthcare and public welfare, Qaiser Ahmed Sheikh said that several new parks have been approved and construction work has already begun to provide citizens with healthy recreational spaces.
He further stated that free healthcare facilities are being provided to deserving people through Islamia Hospital and other trust-run medical centres. Medical teams are also regularly visiting rural villages to organise free health camps, where renowned doctors conduct checkups and distribute expensive medicines free of cost.
The Minister said he personally travels from Islamabad to rural areas to monitor these health camps and ensure quality healthcare services for the public.
He added that despite his busy business engagements, serving the people of Chiniot remains his foremost responsibility and mission. He remarked that Chiniot is his home and its residents are like family to him, which is why he prefers to spend major occasions, including Eid, Shab-e-Barat and Muharram-ul-Haram, among the people of the district.
Concluding his remarks, Qaiser Ahmed Sheikh said that his doors in Islamabad are always open for the residents of Chiniot so their problems can be addressed promptly.
