ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Awami National Party (ANP) President Senator has accused the ruling Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) of betraying its former allies in the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) and described the current government as “paralyzed.”
Speaking during a Senate session, Aimal Wali Khan criticized the federal budget process, questioning whether the budget had been prepared by Pakistan or by the .
He argued that even members of the ruling party may have learned about the budget’s contents only on the day it was presented, suggesting limited political ownership of the fiscal plan.
“The budget has come in a ready-made form from the IMF, and there is little room for meaningful amendments,” the ANP leader said while criticizing the government’s economic decision-making process.
Aimal Wali Khan also questioned the political credentials of Interior Minister and Finance Minister , saying he had never seen them associated with the PML-N’s political ranks.
The senator urged the government to strengthen the role of parliament in shaping economic policies and ensure greater involvement of elected representatives in national decision-making.
The government has not immediately responded to the remarks made during the Senate debate.
